Sbu has vast experience in the financial services sector spanning over 27 years in banking, property investments and the retirement fund industry.
Sbu Luthuli is the Chief Executive Offer at Mpande. Sbu is the former Chief Executive and Principal Officer of the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund (“EPPF”), a position he held for 8 years up to 31 March 2018. Under his leadership the EPPF grew its assets under management from R56 billion in 2010 to more than R140 billion in 2018. Sbu is the former CEO of Ithala Bank Limited, a position he held for 6 years, and is the former Chairman of Cipla Medpro Pharmaceuticals Limited (“Cipla”). Under his chairmanship Cipla listed on the JSE and grew to become the third largest pharmaceutical company in South Africa. Sbu was also one of the founding members, and the vice-Chairperson, of BATSETA, which is a reputable retirement industry body representing retirement funds, and the trustees and principal officers of retirement funds.
He is a director of Telkom SA SOC Limited and Mpact Limited. Sbu is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA). Sbu brings a clear perspective of investor needs and requirements to the Fund, as well as a return-driven ethos. Sbu plays a key role in the operational management of the Fund. Through his diverse investment networks and extensive experience in banking, asset management and the pension fund industry, Sbu is also an important source of deal flow for the Fund.
Gaanewe has vast experience in the financial services industry spanning over 20 years in asset management and property investments.
Gaanewe Adams is an Executive Director and Fund Principal at Mpande. She has vast experience in the financial services industry spanning over 20 years in asset management, corporate finance and property. Gaanewe was employed by the EPPF for 10 years, initially as an equity analyst within the investment management division covering consumer services stocks (retailers, telecommunications and health sectors). Subsequently, Gaanewe was a key member of the team that established and managed the listed property portfolio when the EPPF divested from its stake in Pareto. She also managed the EPPF unlisted property portfolio where she gained immense experience in unlisted property management and asset management. Gaanewe was also employed by the Public Investment Corporation for close to 4 years as a Portfolio Manager for its listed property asset class, managing its internally managed domestic listed property portfolios (R50 billion) for its clients including the Government Employees Pension Fund and the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
She also provided strategic input and had oversight of the fund’s Africa listed property interests. Gaanewe has a B Com (Hons) and a Diploma in Investment Management and Portfolio Management.
Nomzamo Letswele has vast experience in the financial services industry spanning over 13 years in asset management, banking, and property.
Nomzamo Letswele is an Executive Director and Fund Principal at Mpande. She has vast experience in the financial services industry spanning over 13 years in asset management, banking, and property. Nomzamo started her career at RMB Private Bank’s (“RMB”) front office where her role entailed servicing ultra-high net worth clients with various debt and investment products. After leaving RMB she joined the Public Investment Corporation’s unlisted real estate team as an analyst and later an associate. At the PIC, she was instrumental in concluding various transactions in South Africa and the Rest of Africa.
Nomzamo holds a Master of Science in Real Estate and a BCom Honours in Financial Management obtained from the University of Pretoria. She also holds a BA Honours in Philosophy with the University of South Africa
Dominique Erlank has extensive experience spanning 30 years primarily in banking. She also has experience in various other industries including mining and travel.
Prior to joining Mpande, Dominique held various roles in the position of Chief Financial Officer most recently at Absa Bank.
Dominique is a qualified Chartered Accountant (South Africa). Dominique completed a Bachelor of Business Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting at the University of Cape Town.
